19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.
It is his initial trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.
Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a third set.
Moutet defended four initial break points in a tight third set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, the winner secured victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
